I sent the link to the first video to my (ethnically Jewish, religiously Christian) mum, who was feeling sad about knowing so little about Hanukkah (also a link to the Maccabeats, and the cool menorahs I saw posted on tumblr :)) I found it interesting too, the universality of Christmas is pretty inescapable here in Australia.

Though I'm moderately WASPy myself, I still find the way fandom homogenises every single character into the same bland US WASP cultural box pretty frustrating not to mention dull. I like your headcanon for Terezi.
