As part of an ongoing effort to assess the strength of my self-promotion, I decided that the only way to keep track of the enduring popularity of my text games is to document it, probably on a roughly weekly basis.

As of 21/5 I have five text games up on my philo page:

  • Box of Unicorns is my very first public Twine game which has been up since late last winter. It does pretty well, all things considered. Right now it clocks at 176 plays.

  • Box of Unicorns: the Gritty Reboot has a slight parody tone and improved mechanics. It didn't quite catch up to BOU in numbers. 112 plays.

  • Unicorn Wars racked up relatively many plays in a shorter time, presumably because it is the most plotful, despite still being a random numbers game. 152 plays.

  • ZGF Supply Outpost is the gameiest and has the most elaborate mechanics. It lags, thus failing its role in the vast Zionist conspiracy to dominate the media. 68 plays. Most of those might be mine, I actually really enjoy playing it.

  • Tarot for Writers isn't technically a game. This is crossposted from where it was originally hosted in my Dropbox public folder. The blog post about it will appear on social media early next week, so I expect a small uptick when that happens. Just for the sake of completion, it has 4 plays.

Next time I will do this is the form of a table for convenience's sake.
