Dear [community profile] purimgifts gifter,

Yay! It's Purim!

I don't have a lot of squicks. I mean, I don't like fish, but that's hardly likely to come up unless for some reason you have a hankering to describe Annie Edison's new pet goldfish in grotesque detail.

There is no kind of story, no matter how dark, and no kind of relationship, no matter how twisted, that I inherently object to. It's all in the approach. If you don't try to sell me "manipulative and controlling" as "tender and romantic" we have no problem. Character death is okay. Underage relationships are okay. Use your best judgment.

I typically pick fandoms where I like all the characters, so let your imagination run wild. I love A/Us and crossovers and fusions, and nothing is too cracky for me. On the contrary, I tend to think of Purim as the season for crackfic, which is probably exactly what our ancestors intended when they coined the holiday.

  • Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries: I watched the show, but never read the books. Dot is my absolute favorite. Dot having a solo adventure is the best thing I can imagine, although Jane and Mac are both also awesome. Basically anything with this canon will fill me with seasonal glee.

  • Once Upon a Time: Emma and Mary-Margaret being BFFsies/mom-daughter team of awesome, Snow and Red being a team of awesome, Red and Belle being a team of awesome, Belle and Mulan, Mulan and Aurora... You get the picture. I do ship Emma/Regina pretty hard, but you are not at all required to include them as a couple.

  • Lost Girl: Kenzi is the best. Bo and Kenzi being BFFs is the best. Casefic is always nice and I hardly ever see any of that, so feel free to shoehorn in all your favorite mythologies because I love mythology.

  • Caprica: Canon disappointed me in many ways. I didn't get quite the level of Tamara and Zoe being noiry ghost-in-the-machine badasses as I had hoped. Sister Clarice is also a favorite subject of mine.

  • Legend of Korra: In a word, Korrasami. I love all the female characters in all permutations, but... Korrasami. I would say historical A/U, but canon is pretty close to that already. Maybe a speakeasy A/U, there are never enough of those.

  • Community: Shirley and Britta and Annie have this marvelous threeway friendship that doesn't get as much attention as I think it deserves. If you're ambitious, try to work in some Shirley/Britta, maybe unrequited/suppressed. My Community fics from last year are actually a pretty good reflection of what I like in general.

  • Farscape/Runaways/Madoka/Utena: Anything at all for these fandoms would please me.

  • Tanakh/Hebrew Bible: Jael, the Vampire Slayer. I've been waiting all winter to type those words up. :D

  • Dragon Age: I love a ton of different characters, all of which I ramble about endlessly on my Tumblr. Most of all I would like something about Shianni and the other city elves, which elucidates the allegorical theme of medieval Jewry a little more clearly. Bonus points for integrating Jewish European fables and idioms, historical Jewish thinkers, syncretic themes... That sort of thing.

  • Cinders/Magical Diary: I put these in half as a joke, since I don't think anyone who is familiar with these games is likely to sign up. On the off chance that I'm wrong, the Ellen and Virginia romances in Magical Diary are both made of love and sparkly rainbows. As for Cinders, I sort of ship her a little with Madame Ghede. And, uh, with Sophia.
