lea_hazel: The outlook is somewhat dismal (Feel: Crash and Burn)

While I deal with a comically long chain of tax-related bureaucracy* in order to launch a Patreon account, I also need to start building my website. So I'm reaching out to ask recommendations for these two things:

1. A reliable place to register a .net domain plus hosting.
2. Freeware FTP software.

*Did you really need those six extra vowels, English? Really?

What kind of website do you want? That might affect your hosting options.

I suspect most hosts will have web-based FTP that'll do the trick in a pinch. I use Filezilla when I need FTP software, but I'm afraid I don't know much of anything about others.

Not something terribly complex. A biography, some links, and probably a wordpress blog.

Hmmm. In that case, I'd suggest looking at starting off on WordPress and paying them for the domain name unless you have a very good reason to go for self-hosting straightaway. You might also want to play around with a local wordpress installation, so you can tinker with an offline version and make your online presence look how you want it right from the get-go.
