There are so many Things going on that I have to post even though I should be studying. Perhaps I'll intersperse my observations through this post?

So, Game of Thrones. I have so many thoughts, so many. My main two are: I can smell bait; and, way to hang a cliff, jackasses. How do I make it through the next almost a year until season two happens? Assuming they can bring about such an elaborate production for a regular, yearly season. Good thing I have other fandoms to distract myself with, I could never deal with fandom monogamy.

[Developmental psychology, and most branches of psychology, contains a great many observations about the differences between 'Western' and 'Eastern' cultures. Or, sometimes more honestly, between USian and Japanese cultures. As an outsider, I see USian culture as being much less non-conformist and individualistic than people like Erik Erikson apparently do.]

This is my honest, no-false-modesty moment of the day week: I crack myself up. I think I'm hilarious. For example, I legit laughed out loud when reading this Halloween-themed post responding to a [community profile] fannish5 question. How did I suddenly get up to reading posts from months ago? Oh, it showed up in my inbox due to today's absolute rash of random spam comments. Like a good netizen, I reported them all to the DW spam team. Another post that received the spam treatment is my about post.

In the wake of New York state passing marriage equality, there's a prompt meme for same-sex marriage comment fic. I... lost the link? I'm sure googling for it is easy enough, it's called 'let's get gay married'. While skimming the prompts for familiar fandoms I found myself wondering about non-contemporary and, even more so, non-US fandoms. For example, why would Bo and Lauren get gay-married in NYC if they can do it in Toronto (for these purposes assuming that the characters are Canadian and not USian like the show tried to imply)? Especially since the first prompt that came to my mind was for Puella Magi Madoka Magica?

Speaking of which, [community profile] female_fest has all these prompts and some of them are even mine even though I don't know what chance they have of getting claimed? There are so many good prompts. I tried to be creative and unusual, and it came out mostly slightly morbid.

[Most people I know are bi/multi-lingual or at the very least know someone who is quite well. Naturally code-switching is a phenomenon we're all intimately familiar with. My code-switching abilities are quite weak, since I was five when I learned English. When startled, sleepy or angry, I lapse automatically into monosyllabic Hebrew. As a teen I was startled to find that I spoke mostly English, not just to my mother, but also my father and siblings, who are not native English speakers. To my great regret, I never learned Romanian, although I harbor a sweet fantasy that if I tried to learn it I would find that I picked up some phonology from my father's family, and thus would have a weak foreign accent.]

[community profile] junetide. I am so sad that I don't have time to read the awesome-looking vampire teething story that was written for me! And all the others! I have been commenting on the art pieces though, because I think it's nice for people to get feedback right away, just so they don't feel like no one noticed their efforts.

I posted the 'it's okay to not like things' video to my Facebook and it was a wild success. :D

[Laughter also allows babies to relieve stresses such as fear of a threatening object, like so.]

I am suppressing the urge to make a long post about all my Sims-related shenanigans, mainly because I've been playing way more TS3 than is sensible, and every time I open up that thrice-damned game I promise myself I won't play for very long, and every time I break that promise. Right now I am juggling an apocalypse where I've already cheated (and I'm thinking of restarting), an ordinary game with a blue-skinned alien and his girlfriend, and a game where I'm trying to get an elderly lady to befriend a child ghost so she can revive and adopt her.

My writing folder is full of unfinished fanfic projects. Next Thursday I have the big genetics exam (MUST ACE MUST ACE) and after that I have three weeks where I want to focus on writing. I'm serious, I want to write every single day during that time period, irrespective of everything else I might do mainly playing TS3 I assume. This summer I will Do Shit.

FUCK I AM STUDYING NOT READING EVERY FUCKING POST ON TEXTS FROM XAVIER ACADEMY FOR 18 PAGES....

[Skinny blue-eyed babies tend to be 'inhibited' or, rather, the opposite: a notable proportion of 'inhibited' babies who react to new stimuli with anxiety and apprehension are thin with blue eyes. I will incorporate this into fanfic somehow.]

Last night I woke up at 3 AM from a horrible nightmare, the kind that leaves an impression that it's a bad idea to walk around barefoot in your own apartment, or that something vague might leap at you from absolutely anywhere. Luckily, my strategy of assiduously refusing to think about the details of the nightmare means that I can hardly remember any of it, so it doesn't seem that scary anymore. Still, I think it might be prudent to get my bedside lamps installed. Waking up with that feeling and not being able to shake it is not fun.

It's alarming but also fascinating that the character I have most identified with lately (= in the past few years) is a teenage girl who ends up turning into a monster. And who is also the weakest of her entire peer group.

Well, this is already ludicrously long enough, rambling enough, and took *glances* over an hour to put together, so I'm just gonna hide most of this behind a cut and go ahead and post it.

It is a pretty awesome story! But as an artist I am entirely in favour of comments on all the art :)

Same sex marriage isn't legal in Japan, so I... guess they might go to the US? *googles* It might actually be the closest place where it's legal, huh.

Oh, true, even the ones left alive at the end are unlikely to live to eighteen :(
